Otters on the Water Reviews
I have gone to otters several times and always had a fantastic experience. The portions are massive, the views are great, and the service is extremely helpful. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu!
Giving Otters on the Water a firm four, why you ask? Read on. It was in the high sixties and sunny, and I've had cabin fever for the past week so we opted to go out to eat where we could sit outside and enjoy the weather. I called Otters on our way there to see how long their wait was. They said there's no wait, so we headed that way. I will say, that if you hadn't been to this location prior to it being something else, it's a bit tough to find. They do have signage that says where to turn, but it takes a few tries to get to the actual location, so be patient. Otters is located near a marina. The area looks more industrial than anything, but don't let the look of the outside fool you. When we arrived, we parked (there's lots of parking, but would imagine that on a warmer summer day, you may have some problems finding a parking spot, since it appears that this location shares parking with the marina). I walked inside the restaurant and asked to be seated outside. The interior was updated, coastal, and looked crisp and clean. We were then brought back to the outdoor patio. The patio is massive and they have an outdoor bar. We also saw many people with their pups, so if you're looking for a pet friendly place to eat outside, this is your place. You have an expansive view of the water, which is beautiful. We received the menu and looked it over. I wasn't super hungry, but opted for their loaded BLT and a beer. My husband had a burger that was teriyaki style and a beer. Our little one said nothing tickled his fancy, so he got a water (it also may have been the two hotdogs he had prior to leaving the house). The hostess mentioned that they have games at the hostess stand, so if our little one wanted something to do, he could ask them. Thought that was a nice touch. Our meals came out pretty quickly, as did the beer. My BLT was piled high with bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and cucumbers. I bit into it and it was good, but I will say, I probably would not have included cucumbers and would have swapped out the provolone for cheddar (user error on my part, I should have read the description). My husband's burger was delicious. The teriyaki paired nicely with the grilled pineapple ring. Both our fries were nice and crisp. Service was quick, prices were in line with area, and the views were great. Pros: -variety of items on the menu -cold beer on tap -friendly service -great views Cons: -my inability to read the menu Tips: Looking for a great location away from some of the hustle and bustle of downtown St. Augustine? This is your place.
Stopped into Otters for lunch since we were in the area. We had a Goombay Smash which was Very strong but good and we had the Molten burger and Barnburner. Both burgers were very good and cooked right. The fries were crunchy and although I am not a mayonnaise coleslaw person, it was pretty good. Service was excellent. There seem to be a ton of staff.
Late lunch at Otters. A nice afternoon but a bit of a breeze so we asked to be seated inside (by a window - excellent view of their outdoor seating) the marsh and Lincolnville and St Augustine). Wife had their meatloaf with mashed potatoes, vegetables and some cornbread. Very tasty. I ordered the Reuben sandwich- comes with fries and a small cup of coleslaw. Lots of food took some home. Meat was tender. A well built sandwich. Fries could have been a bit hotter. Total bill $37.46 plus tip. Seated when we entered the restaurant. Our waitress Jennifer took good care of us. Plenty of parking- restrooms clean - food good - beautiful views. Plan to return and try their seafood. It's a 5.
I miss this place. I never once had a bad meal there. It's a shame they closed down. I still hope they will reopen at a different location.
